Limestone, NY Business Owner Offers Knowledge and Experience of ATV/Parts Salvage

Are you looking for a top-of-the-line shop in the tri-county area to get your ATV repaired? Have you been searching for a part and just can’t seem to find it? Have you crashed your bike, and you’d like to sell it for salvage? If so, then you ought to get down to 640 Main Street in Limestone, NY to visit Parts-R-Us. Owner John Smith has a lifetime of experience in the ATV world and an impressive mechanical background to boot.

What exactly is Parts-R-Us?

We’re an ATV repair shop - we sell all the parts and have all the gear! With over 70,000 parts for sale, we are confident we have what you’re looking for. We buy used ATVs, dirt bikes, motorcycles and snowmobiles and pull parts from them. Additionally, we do full body repairs. You can bring in your crashed bike, for example, and get it fixed or we’ll buy it for the parts. Our shop is also loaded with brand new riding gear.

What made you such a qualified mechanic?

I’ve always been good at fixing things, and I have been doing it for over 20 years. It started when I worked for a landscaping company in my teens; I always repaired their lawnmowers and weed whackers. In the Marine Corps, I continued fixing things as a tank mechanic. This led to my position at Charlie’s Cycle Center for about 15 years, and now my own business.

What is your ATV of choice, and how long have you been riding?

My first dirt bike was an 80cc piece of junk that my brother and I used to fist fight over. I fell in love with dirt biking around the age of 8.

What sets your store apart from the rest?

The parts salvage … we are very comparable to Andrew’s Auto Salvage in the respect that we inventory ATV parts, rather than car parts. My partner and I both moved here from Pittsburgh and we’re both very good at what we do. We have a lifetime of experience in the ATV world. People come to us because they know that we know what we’re doing.

What kind of music would be jamming if I walked into your shop?

I enjoy anything, but you would probably hear punk rock. There is a good possibility that Social Distortion could be blasting in the background.

Some fun facts about John Smith:

John was a pro dirt bike racer in the WNYOA circuit for three years; he has been doing hair scrambles since 1995. During his bmx racing career, he was number 5 in P., and NBC National number 14. He currently races cars at Watkins Glen.

Why did your parents name you John Smith?

You know, I have always been told that John Smith is a common name. Can I say that I have never come across anyone other than my Dad and my Grandpa, with the name of John Smith? I was named after both of them.

Is there anything fun happening that local riders can check into?

The Limestone Fire Department is hosting their annual dice run on Aug. 18, 2012. That’s always a good time.
